It is with great sorrow that the Canton Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Charles L. Gray Sr.

The Funeral for Charles Lewis “Charlie” Gray, Sr. will be Saturday morning May 18, 2019 at 10:30 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Caroline Street, Ogdensburg, with The Reverend Art Garno, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Canton.

Assistant Chief Daniel Aldous, March 28

On March 28, 2019 at 1218 hours Canton Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported fuel truck rollover with leaking fuel on Route 68 near the Pike Road. Assistant Chief Aldous and Canton PD reported en route immediately. Canton Rescue A-131, Rescue 1, Rescue 36 and Engine 8 were en route at 1222. One Car Rollover In Pyrites

At 0652 Pyrites Fire, along with Canton Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to a one vehicle rollover MVA in the vicinity of 3082 County Route 21. Pyrites Engine 92, Canton Rescue 1 and Ambulance 132 were enroute 10 minutes later. Troopers from the NYSP were the first on scene reporting extremely slippery road conditions with freezing rain. At 0044 Canton Fire and Rescue was toned out to respond auto-aid to Pyrites Fire for a reported garage fire at 121 North Woods Road. Engine 7 was first to respond followed by Ambulance 132 and Tanker 20. Pyrites Fire arrived first on scene and reported a fully involved garage fire with the house as an exposure.
